This past week we were made aware of an incident where a teacher had her Chromebook stolen out of her car. The teacher notified the technology department and filed a police report detailing the incident. Once the tech department was notified, technician AJ Allen (@NordoniaTech) was able to push out monitoring software to this specific Chromebook in hopes of gathering information for the police. Not only did AJ successfully push the software out, but he was also able to gather information from it. Through some of the logging features of the software, AJ was able to see the person’s first and last name as they logged into various accounts. He was even able to snap a picture of the person using the Chromebook’s built in webcam. This information was relayed to the police and I am pleased to report that they were able to find this person and retrieve our stolen Chromebook.
